My experience with Social Media
One reason I like social media is that it makes my work more interesting. By signing up for Facebook, it is a place communicate with friends and family, to share photographs or funny links you find on the Web, and to play social games with your friends. Facebook is really helpful because I am able to communicate with other people all over the world, interact by adding friends, commenting on profiles, joining groups, and having discussions. I can share photographs uploaded from a phone, camera, or hard drive. When I joined on Facebook, I thought it could not be more helpful for me but when I kept using it, I found it really helpful because it is good for connecting and meeting with people who I have not seen in a while. I have a lot of family all over the country. Therefore, Facebook is helpful to me, but it can be a time waster if you spend most of your time online. When I thought about my old friends, it is a great place to look up old friends and get back in touch. Why I love Facebook so much, it is because it allows you for a longer conversation and further relationship building. Another one is On-Line Gaming. I have a game system which is really entertaining to me because I get to talk and chat with my friends while playing online games. I am having fun every time I play online with my friends. Since this game system has access to the internet, I can browse through my Internet and use it for social. I can go to some websites that have web messaging for free. As well as YouTube, a video-sharing website on which users can upload, share, and view videos. I can also watch just about anything on YouTube for free. There are some great videos out there on YouTube that is very interesting and entertaining and will never be seen anywhere else. For me, playing games allows me to enjoy the gaming while competing with other players too. As well as Yahoo Messenger, provided free of charged and can be downloaded and is a very popular instant messaging. This messenger allows me to talk, chat, share photos, send a message even though your friend is not available or online, and the good thing about Yahoo Messenger is that it allows you to video call your friends online. So it is like your talking him/her in person.
My life before social media was like boring because I usually used old methods of writing by sending letters to mail box, which really takes time to deliver the mail to your friends or family. I was not able to connect and meet with other all over the world. I had to use the phone to call my old friends and family outside the country and pay for calling long distance. It was really hard for me to live without social media. I was not able to connect and meet with my friends and other people who I have not seen in a while. It was not easy to organize events because the only way is to make a plan on how to convince your friends individually. For some reason, some people do not have a phone. I had to meet my friends and talk to them in person when making any plans. It was very difficult to me to get my friends to come to the events. I also tried sending them an email but for some reason. Some of them did not response at all probably because they were not usually on the computer. Another one was I had to go to the print shop to print my work to send the photographs to my friends and family, but now I can just upload them to my Facebook account, Yahoo Messenger, and Hotmail. After a few years, social media became a popular for people who use it for their own personal gain. Thanks to social media, including Facebook, YouTube, Skype, Mesenger, because I am able to communicate faster and easier with other people all over the world. However, social media have changed my life. There are many reasons for this. The first one is Facebook, a social networking website to meet friends and keep up on what they are doing. I chose Facebook for a reason because I am able to send a message and chat with my friends on the computer for free. I can send messages as much as I want and also the good thing about this is that the person you message will receive the message right away. Today, there are many free social network websites for people who really need to connect with around the world. I have learned that the social media is a way of life, and this has dramatically changed how I interact with people online.
In my conclusion, Social Media have had a negative impact on my life about social networking sites. I like social media but it does bother me sometimes. My privacy has been trespassed. When I created a Facebook account, I find it a waste of time sometimes because I spend too much time, and I get stock on the computer. I always get involved with unknown people by adding friends, even though I don not know them. So I lost my privacy by adding random people because they might take my photos to make fun of. As a matter of fact, I share too much information on my profile with other people, who are totally strangers. Every time I have projects or assignments, I always leave everything to the last minutes, and when the time has come. I always postpone my work, especially my going to bed to sleep. I just always spend my time playing video games. No matter what I work on, I am not working on everything else. To me, it is very hard to avoid procrastination. I am very addicted to shooting games. I always find something better to do including Facebook. I just always check if I have new notifications when someone sent me a message, commented on my profile or photos, and the most things that I always do are chatting and talking with my friends. In other words, Social Media have also had a positive impact on my life. There are positive effects to social networking. The first one is that I can talk to my friends in different countries for free. For example, Facebook, I use it for networking, finding old friends, and sharing some ideas. As well as Yahoo Messenger, I can talk and see them on the computer over the internet so it looks like I am having conversations with them in person. I can control my privacy of who I want to add t my friends list by changing my privacy settings such as my photos, information, and more. I have been using Facebook for almost four years now. The most important is that I use Facebook to keep in contact with people. Another is that I enjoy playing online video games with my friends and other people. I can talk to them using a Bluetooth device for free. Overall, Social Media have had a negative and positive impact on my life. But it all depends on people how they should use it to socialize and communicate with others.
